Curb Appeal In The Winter
“MY
COMPANY IS RELOCATING ME—AND I HAVE TO MOVE IN JANUARY. IS THERE
ANYTHING I CAN DO TO INCREASE MY HOME’S ‘CURB APPEAL’ IN THE MIDDLE OF
WINTER?”
Although
most potential home buyers during this time of year will understand if
your front lawn is a little brown and if your trees are bare, there are
a few things you can do to increase your home’s brightness in the dreary
winter months. In general, you want to give the outside of your home a
cozy or inviting look. Try to make your front door area a focal point. A
new doormat or a fresh coat of paint on your front door can help make
your entrance area inviting to potential buyers. In terms of
landscaping, talk to a professional landscaper or an experienced
gardener and ask them what kinds of plants—especially flowers or other
blooming plants—thrive in the winter months. Although it may not be
feasible to actually do any planting, a few potted plants can definitely
brighten up your yard and the front of your house. Finally, just as the
inside of your home needs to be clean, the outside of your home needs to
be clean as well. Make sure you remove any leaves, branches, and other
debris from your yard on a regular basis. If you do these basic tasks,
your home will make a good first
impression. ∆
